Legro

Legro is a Language Enrichment Group written by the ‘time to talk™’ team which supports children with an ‘amber’ level of communication need. Written for children who are 3-4 years old, it can be adapted for younger and older children too.

Legro uses the ‘chatter matters™’ and ‘time to talk™’ principles and embeds these within the context of storytelling. It utilises the ‘WellComm Big Book of Ideas’ activities alongside other fun, multi-sensory and creative activities, based on the language of the story. High quality adult interaction strategies are foundational to the sessions, and therefore it is implemented by settings who have a ‘time to talk’ Speech and Language Champion.

The engaging, repetitive and individualised nature of the programme makes sure each child develops their language and communication skills to full potential.

Each block of Legro consists of 6 weeks of session plans.

The programme has been jointly created by NHS Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers and Warwickshire’s Early Years team.
